Adobe Ideas – Digital sketchbook for the iPad

You would think that since Apple has pretty much eluded Adobe when it comes to Adobe Flash and other Adobe application, Adobe wouldn’t even care about applications for the iPad.  Well, you’re dead wrong!  Adobe has come out with a new application for the iPad called Adobe Ideas.

So, what is Adobe Ideas?

It is coined as “your digital sketchbook.” Allowing you to engage and investigate ideas anywhere you go. It is an exemplar mate for the professional design applications from Adobe, which includes Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop software. In other words, it’s a new alternative to ink the iPad. Customers are able sketch designs and draw on their iPad then send a copy of their finished product to their main desktop for finessing and editing with Photoshop Illustrator.

Features:

  • Simplistic vector-based drawing tools
  • Multitouch control for variety of brushes
  • Zoom control
  • Vector eraser
  • 50-level undo
  • Separate drawing and photo layers
  • email ideas as PDF files for editing in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

This app can spontaneously create and adjust color hues based on photos or on other portraits, in a similar way to Adobe’s Kuler website, or Pantone’s myPantone webpage.

Adobe conveys that the zoom control allows you to zoom in and out on projects without being tagged or having big pixels. Extra features include a vector eraser and 50 levels of undo.  Completed sketches can be emailed as PDFs for other purposes.
