Apps iPad Review of Yahoo Entertainment App

The iPad hasn’t been out long, but there are already more than 1,000 specially catered apps for the device and more inundation in by the hour. While Apple’s iPad is an impossibly beautiful tablet computer, the intensity to unlock its yet-unrealized potential is held by a group of third-party app developers. They are now in a race, an e-gold rush of sorts, to develop apps that best utilize the iPad’s innovative multi-touch display and offer an experience worth charging for.

Several blogs obtained alleged screenshots of a variety of “upcoming” iPad applications.

To be clear, the iPad apps here have not been confirmed by Apple or the vendors themselves. With that said, let’s take a look at what may be coming up for the iPad.

Yahoo Entertainment

It looks like Yahoo has packed a ton of content into its free Yahoo Entertainment application, according to 9-to-5Mac. One Yahoo Entertainment screenshot shows links to five news sections including business, entertainment and tech news, as well as current headlines. There’s also a link to Yahoo Sports, the Yahoo Finance blog Tech Ticker, and Yahoo Kids Movies. The inlayed image shows what may be Yahoo’s TV listings application on the iPad.

Here is what you can do with the Yahoo! Entertainment for iPad app:

– Plan what TV shows you want to watch. In this gaze the app provides an interactive program guide that presents programs and organizes them by time, day, channel, content, or genre.
– View video feeds. The app provides video feeds from sports, news, finance, business, entertainment, weather and other providers.
– Stay on top of the news. The app brings out all sorts of news articles to you, from fashion news to book reviews, odd stories, or entertainment news.

“Using editorialized, real-time content, Yahoo! Entertainment surfaces and recommends TV shows, entertainment news, TV listings, book reviews, and a wide variety of popular videos from across the Web. Our industry-leading entertainment properties on the PC attract nearly 200 million visitors each month worldwide, making this a natural area for us to initially focus our creative energy on. We’re taking the content we know people love and combining it into a single, immersive app,” explained Yahoo’s Lucas Mast.
