The iPad, Apple’s latest creation, its entry to the tablet computing field, is finally here. It is Apple’s reinvention of the notebook. Apple’s manufacturer certainly doesn’t disappoint with the support for its latest baby. The Applestore, boasting of 140,000 iPad apps since day one of its release sure does look promising.

The iPad is essentially an iPod Touch that’s bigger than the iPod while smaller than a laptop. It has the same operating system as the iPhone. It has 64GB of storage space, a display size of 9.7 inches and a 1GHz Apple processor.

iPad pricing is somewhat tricky as it offers different models based on storage space. All models have wifi capabilities, hence, wireless apps. The base model will have 16GB of storage and will retail for $499. For more storage, there’s the 32GB model for $599 and the 64GB model for $699. iPads with 3G wireless data support will be available in May costing $130 extra for each respective model.

Like its cousins, the iPhone and the iPod Touch, apps iPad can be downloaded from the Applestore. It will work with almost all of the apps designed for the iPhone since they share the same operating system version.  As an added bonus, if you already have apps for the iPhone or iPod Touch, you can easily sync them from your Mac or PC. These synced iPad apps can run in their original size or can expand to fill the screen. Developers are working hard making new apps to take full advantage of this latest gadget.

Mac’s suite of productivity applications, the iWork, has been completely reimagined for the iPad’s. The already robust design of the iWork has been padded with new features designed to work specifically for the iPad tablet design and touch screen interface. While remaining easy to use, they’re also the most powerful productivity apps made for a mobile device. You can send documents between iPads and Mac’s or PC’s.

Steve Jobs said during his keynote, “if you’re going to create a third category of device, between the smartphone and the laptop, then it needs to be better than either for certain tasks”. These iPads hold its own in many areas, web browsing is better because of the bigger screen. Multimedia like photos, music and movies are just much more enjoyable on this reinvented notebook than on a laptop.

Apple still yet does not have the exact iPad release date for the recently announced iPad accessories. The expected products include the iPad’s keyboard dock, expected to be priced at $69; the iPad’s dock, $29; the iPad’s case, $39; and the iPad’s camera connection kit, $29. Other accessories may soon be announced.

The Version 3.0 of Pandora is a Universal app, meaning it subsumes builds for the iPhone and iPad. The iPad takes advantage of its wide screen. Rather than having to switch views to see things such as your stations, they can settle on the left hand side of the screen as your album artwork and artist information is on the opposite side.
The perfect application for the budding chefs, wives and moms! I myself is a kitchen enthusiast and I find this very refreshing. This app is innately a tabbed digital cookbook which allows you to access 27,000 recipes from both Gourmet and Bon Apetit. You can browse recipe collections, search via keywords, and filter your searches by what’s in your fridge, seasonal foods, holidays and much more. You can add any recipe to your favorite box to save it as well as email recipes to others. You can also add ingredients from your saved recipes to shopping lists and check off items as you buy them.
A limited version of the paper with all of its free articles. Subscribers get hold of the full paper. The iPad app mimics the look of the paper edition, and also includes market data, videos, and photo slideshows.
eBay is launching an iPad app that aims to imbue the user by putting the image at the center, using oversized thumbnails and bleeding image close-ups to the edges of the device. The iPad’s touch scrren functionality augments the traditional eBay searh by letting users scoot thriugh several search pages with a few swipes of the finger.
